High Level Saturday Football. MJPL & JPL Squads.

Both are higher-level competitions. The MJPL (Midland Junior Premier League) is made up of teams from across the West Midlands region. The JPL (Junior Premier League) is the largest national youth football league in England, and we play in its Midlands region. Star Soccer Academy is the only club in Leicestershire that plays exclusively in these two leagues.

The main trials open each spring for all age groups and normally run over four weeks. We also offer a two-week trial in selected age groups during the season. There is no fee to trial and no obligation afterwards. Your child trains with the squad they are trialling for, so both of you get an honest look at the standard and the group before anyone commits. We tell you either way at the end — we will not leave you waiting to hear. Right now we have places to trial at U12s and U13s; every other age group is taking expressions of interest. The next trial is Monday 24 August 2026.

We do not publish squad fees before trials. They are higher than a traditional grassroots club, for two reasons we are happy to be held to: every coach is paid for training and match days, and we hire 3G facilities rather than taking whatever pitch is free. You will have the full cost before you are asked to commit to anything.

Our training base is Bosworth Academy, Leicester Lane, Desford, LE9 9JL. Squads train there once a week on 3G, on Monday evenings — U9s and U10s from 5:30pm to 7:00pm, U11s to U14s from 7:00pm to 8:30pm.

One of the advantages we have over a traditional grassroots club is that we can register any number of players up an age group. We often promote players to sample playing up where we think it will benefit them, in a similar way to the professional academies.
